Embark on an unforgettable journey to Japan!

In autumn 2025, the EMBA International Study Trip will take place in Japan, with visits to Nagoya and Tokyo. Japan, known for its process excellence and innovation, offers a unique setting to explore how leading organizations blend efficiency with human-centered approach. Participants will gain practical insights from some of Japan´s top companies and thought leaders in these fields.

Programme overview

The goal of this study trip is to immerse participants in the essence of business excellence, where finely-tuned processes meet a strong emphasis on human-centric approaches. The programme offers an understanding of how leading organizations succeed by balancing precision with a commitment to service excellence and long-term expertise development. Participants will examine case companies and leaders renowned for their attention to detail and dedication to continuous improvement, equipping them with knowledge to apply these principles in their own organizations.

City Highlights: Nagoya & Tokyo

The study trip covers two cities: Nagoya and Tokyo. Participants will spend two days in Nagoya, an industrial hub and home to e.g. Toyota, learning about the precision and innovation that define the region´s leading companies. The journey continues with two days in Tokyo, the world´s largest city, offering an opportunity to explore modern business practices and leadership in a vibrant, global metropolis.

Academic partner: NUCB, Japan´s leading EMBA University

Our academic partner is internationally triple-accredited NUCB (Nagoya University of Commerce and Business). NUCB´s expertise in executive education and strong connections with local industry provide participants with insights into the Japanese approach to leadership, business strategy and continuous improvement. With campuses both in Nagoya and Tokyo, NUCB offers participants a unique chance to experience academic sessions and local business environments in each city.

Trip Schedule

Week 40, 2025. The programme starts on Tuesday morning 30.9. and ends on Friday 3.10.

  • Tuesday and Wednesday: Nagoya (NUCB campus & company visits)
  • Wednesday evening: Transfer to Tokyo via the Shinkansen high-speed bullet train
  • Thursday and Friday: Tokyo (NUCB campus & company visits)


Investment to management development

The price for the programme is 2 300 euros + VAT 25,5%. The programme fee includes teaching and teaching material, not the travel- and accommodation costs (appr. 3 000 euros). Please note that the price of the programme may vary depending on the destination country.

Each participant takes care of their own flight and hotel reservations. If the participation is cancelled less than 2 weeks before the trip, 500 euros will be charged as a cancellation fee.

The programme is 3 study points (ECTS) of AMBA (Association of MBAs), AACSB and BGA-accredited University of Jyväskylä Executive MBA studies. You can also complete the programme as an independent module. The working language is English.

International Study Trip is optional and elective study module, and it´s also open to participate for Executive MBA alumni members. All participants completing the module will receive EMBA study module certificate (3 ECTS) by University of Jyväskylä.
